| Works in Parallel is
not just another enigmatically named exhibition. It describes the very
strong relationship between these two artists, and hints at their degree
of cross fertilisation of ideas and process. Highly regarded artist Geoffrey
Stocks has long produced abstract artworks of the highest calibre. Warren
Bonett, his step son, has forged an independent London-based career in
graphic design and illustration. When Warren finally returned to Castlemaine
in 2006 plans began for a joint show. This exhibition is the product
of the last two years of discussions, plans, wanderings, emails, and
yes, even actual artwork. Geoffrey’s work ranges from watercolours
and acrylics to digital prints and collage, whilst Warren concentrates
exclusively on photogravure etchings using polymer based solarplates.
Both artists' find inspiration in the relationships between technology
and landscape; nature and industry; giving the viewer much food for thought.
The mixture of pure abstraction with realism marks both artists work,
making Works in Parallel accessible to a wide audience literally spanning
the generations. |
