Wendy
Stavrianos
Wendy Stavrianos was
born in Melbourne in 1941 and lives on the slopes of Mount Gaspard
in Central Victoria. In 1960 she received a Diploma of Fine Art
from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology and went on
to teach and lecture in painting, printmaking and drawing. By
1988 she had reached the position of Senior Lecturer at Monash
University at the Caulfield Campus and held that position for
a decade. Since 1998 she has dedicated herself to her art full-time.
Her prolific career was formally recognised with a touring Retrospective
during 1997 to 1999. She has a collection of high profile awards
for her work and is represented at the National Gallery of Australia,
Canberra; National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne; Art Gallery
of WA, Perth; Northern Territory Museum & Art Gallery, Darwin;
Museum of Contemporary Art, Brisbane; and a plethora of private
collections in Australia and overseas.
