Bonett
Warren
Bonett was born in
Melbourne 1967. His path to becoming an artist was a convoluted
one. In 1988 he graduated from Bendigo LaTrobe in Outdoor Education,
and then went one to ride a bicycle around much of Australia.
He then travelled to London and soon after suffered an accident
curtailing his more physical ambitions. It was this that initially
compelled him to return to his early interest in the arts. Studying
graphic design at Central Saint Martins he began a love affair
with printmaking, in particular etching. After a successful one
man show at Gallery 47 in London, and several group shows in
Sydney, Bonett built a career in design and illustration in London,
working for clients such as Mercedes-Benz, Barclays Bank, John
Wiley & Sons, and IBM. (see his website www.wdbonett.com).
Bonett returned to Australia in 2006 and
almost immediately began working towards a new show, this time
concentrating on a solar plate photogravure process. His influences
are varied, ranging from his step father Geoff Stocks, to architect
Lebbeus Woods, and other artists like Naum Gabo, Graham Sutherland,
and Moholy Nagy. |
