Gus Cohan

Gus Cohan was born in Melbourne in 1942. He trained in Graphic Art and Advertising Design at Swinburne Tech, Melbourne and had a successful career as both a Graphic Designer with the ABC and as an Art Director in Publishing before becoming a Senior Art Director in Advertising. During these two decades of corporate achievement, Gus somehow found time to exhibit in Melbourne and Sydney or indeed wherever his professional life took him. In 1990 his established a studio in Castlemaine and has maintained a staggering output ever since – in 2003 he had a significant solo exhibition at the Counihan Gallery in Brunswick where had over 200 pieces of evocative drawings, paintings and constructions on display. Gus is represented in both private and corporate collections here and around the world.
