Anton
Hassell
Anton Hasell has been
prolific within the education system. Beginning in 1974 he completed
his Bachelor of Economics and the following year received a Diploma
of Education. By 1982 it was clear that an innate creative ability
would prove influential as he finished a Bachelor of Fine Arts
in Sculpture at R.M.I.T. He then went on to do his Post Graduate
Diploma followed by a Master of Fine Arts, both in Sculpture.
In 2003 he became a Doctor of Philosophy at R.M.I.T in Architecture
and Design. During this academic tour de force Anton has had
high profile exhibitions since 1990 and is recognised by his
long list of prizes, grants and public space commissions including
the remarkable Federation Bells (with Dr Neil McLachlan) at Birrarung
Marr Park, Melbourne; The Victorian Police Memorial (with architect
Marcus Ward); The Tilly Aston Bell, City of Melbourne and Vision
Australia; Eureka Stockade Commission. Anton also managed to
squeeze in a studio residency at Paretaia, Italy and has lectured
part-time in Sculpture at a number of tertiary art schools including
the VCA for 8 years.
