Herons Gallery
was established by John and Elaine Campbell, in 1998 in what
was originally The Supreme Court Hotel (1859). They extensively
restored
the dilapidated building to its original glory, and now the building
houses some of the best independent exhibitions in the country.
Herons houses a continuous, though ever changing show
of its selected
artists, and 4-5 times a year it puts on special exhibitions.
In 2001 it put on a highly successful show called Masterclass,
an extraordinary group exhibition of four of their artists who
have been friends for 40 years. In 2008 they'll host Works
in Parallel,
a generation spanning show of work by father and son, Geoff
Stocks and Warren Bonett.
John and Elaine have over 20 years experience
in the arts, and with the enormous effort they put in to restore
the building being reflected in the collection itself,
Herons Gallery is a worthy port of call for anyone with an interest
in visual arts. For
